Christie Vilsack, Executive Director of the Iowa Initiative to Reduce Unintended Pregnancies will be in Knoxville this afternoon to discuss the program with area health care professionals. According to Katrina Nelson, Director of Public Relations at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, the initiative is a five year research project working to reduce the high rate of unintended pregnancies in women ages 18-30. Vilsack and former Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson have been traveling throughout the state to meet with people and discuss the issue in hope of reducing unintended pregnancies through networking, research and public outreach. Vilsack will speak with representatives of the Knoxville Hospital and Clinic and Marion County Public Health department this afternoon from 1:30-3pm in the clinic boardroom.
