The Pella Little Dutch are a unique team to watch. From the swarming defense to the deepest bench I have ever seen, Pella always aims to frustrate and exhaust their opponents. One word comes to mind when I hear “Little Dutch”. Teamwork.

Under the direction of head coach Mark Core, this squad truly believes in each other. That is something you can’t say about all teams. The players respect each other. They embrace what each teammate does well, and they do it unselfishly.

Recently, junior Lucas Boyd was asked how the Little Dutch are able to push the tempo throughout the game. He said coach Core asks the players the let him know when their tired. He adds it’s not difficult to call for a substitution because they know the player who is coming in for them is just as talented as they are, and they trust each other to get the job done.

All of these values are sure to help this team continue their success in 2010-2011.

The Little Dutch will resume play against Oskaloosa on January 4th. They are 4-1 after a favorable schedule that had just one road game before the holiday break.
