Several presentations were given during last night’s Knoxville School Board meeting. High School teachers Mandy Hudson and Sean Gibbons gave presentations on how they use technology in their classrooms. Both teachers use the internet to interact with their students and say they have gotten good feedback from them. Hudson says she has been able to go nearly paperless with some of her units thanks to technology and says students need to be able to use technology more in the classroom because they won’t stick with the pencil and paper for much longer.

In addition the board received a presentation recapping last week’s Career Day at the high school from the guidance counselors and heard from Principal Kevin Crawford about the number of students taking college credit courses. They also approved grant applications for energy efficiency construction projects and fire safety. Cast a vote for Joan Corbin of Pella to represent district 8 in the Iowa Association of School Boards, briefly reviewed the employee work rules and scheduled another meeting with an Apple education representative for 5:30pm on January 18th.
