This year’s winter bee keeping classes kick off this evening. The course is hosted by the Marion County Extension Office, Mahaska County Extension and the Back to Basic Bee Club.

According to local Beekeeper Craig Greene, every third bite of food we consume is thanks to pollination by bees and these classes will touch on the importance of bees in our environment and teach beginning beekeepers how to start a beehive.

The classes will be held each Tuesday evening at 6:30pm at the Trabert Center in Knoxville for seven weeks. No pre-registration is required and the cost to attend is a $30 fee to cover books and materials.

For more information call Craig Greene at 842-2112.
