Two student athletes from Central College have been recognized as Iowa Conference performers of the week in their respective sports.  Central basketball player DeMarco Turner and wrestler Tommy Van Renterghem were each honored for their performances last week.

Turner, a senior shooting guard for the Dutch averaged 24.7 points in three games last week for Central, including wins over Dubuque and Loras.  In those games, Turner shot a blistering 60.5 percent from the field, including 67 percent from 3-point range, as he sank a total of 16 shots from beyond the arc.

Van Renterghem won four matches at the Max Servies Duals at Wabash College in Indiana, as the Dutch posted a 3-1 record to finish third.  The 174-pounder from Oskaloosa registered two first period pins, before closing out his day with two more major decision victories.  The performance extended Van Renterghem’s winning streak to twelve straight matches.
