Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat says the extradition process continues as he and the county attorney’s office waits for Terry Cobbin Jr.’s return to Iowa. As previously reported by KNIA/KRLS news Cobbins was arrested in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin on January 10th in connection with the murder of Teresa Miller and later charged with 1st degree murder. The extradition process is a lengthy one that typically takes between 60 to 90 days.

Cobbins will have the choice to waive or not waive extradition to Marion County. If he chooses to waive, Wisconsin will then notify Iowa and arrangements will me made to pick him up via local law enforcement or a private transport service. If extradition is not waived then a governors warrant must be obtained, meaning Governor Terry Branstad’s office will need to inform Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s office that there is a valid warrant for Cobbins in Iowa and request that he is sent back here to answer on the charges. After certifying that he is the individual listed on the Marion County warrant through fingers and other identification factors, a governors warrant is issued and Iowa officials will then pick up Cobbins from Milwaukee County.
