Pella Christian knocked down five 3-pointers in the first quarter against South Tama last night to jump out to a 21-8 advantage en route to a 60-45 Homecoming victory; as the Lady Eagles handed the Trojans their first loss in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

The two teams played fairly evenly after the opening frame, with South Tama even cutting the lead to as little as nine points in the third quarter, before Pella Christian rattled off a 10-0 run to open the fourth quarter and put the game away.

Jasmin Schelhaas led the way on offense for the Lady Eagles, as she tallied 18 points. Shelby Weaver also scored in double figures with 11 points. Pella Christian’s defense forced the Trojans into 23 turnovers, while also holding leading scoring Madison Baier to 12 points.

The victory keeps the Lady Eagles’ hopes of a conference title alive, as they improved to 8-2 in league play and 11-3 overall. Pella Christian is home again this afternoon to host Eddyville-Blakesburg.
