The Marion County Conservation Board, Marion County Sportsman’s Club and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are planning the annual hunter’s safety courses for 2011. Ken Kenyon, State Game Warden for Marion County says the courses offer young people and novices a chance to get some experience with firearms in a controlled environment with trained mentors present. Kenyon says the main lesson he wants people to take away from the courses is gun safety, and the proper way to handle firearms. Registration for the classes can be made up to one month in advance at the Marion County Recorder’s Office. Classes will be offered in March, June and August. Final dates have not yet been set.
