Due to the recent changes in Iowa’s conceal and carry law the Knoxville City Council is considering prohibiting guns from all city property. The topic was brought up at a recent council meeting by Police Chief Dan Losada who wanted to clarify whether or not the council was interested in pursuing a no firearms policy. City owned property includes a variety of areas such as City Hall, the Recreation Center, Library, street shop and parks. After discussing the matter the council expressed interest in moving forward with a no firearms policy. Losada and City Attorney Bob Stuyvesant will now draft up a policy that will be presented to the council for approval.
