The Knoxville Education Association submitted their initial proposal for the 2011-2012 master contract to the School board at their meeting this week. The proposal includes a 5% total package increase and a requested to be paid at least twice a month versus their monthly pay they receive now.
Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says proposed increase amounts to between $450,000 and $500,000 which would be difficult to fund considering Governor Terry Branstad’s proposed 0% allowable growth for the next two years. Dr. Flack says because of decreasing enrollment, the Knoxville School District does qualify for a budget guarantee which should bring in just over $100,000 of new money.
The school board and education association will continue the negotiation process at future meetings.
