A Knoxville woman was among 80 in the state honored by the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa earlier this month. Irma Williams was chosen as this year’s Hospice of Central Iowa – Knoxville office honoree.

Williams has been a hospice volunteer for more than 20 years, back when the local organization was simply known as the Marion County Hospice. She spends the majority of her volunteer hours visiting with patients and their families and getting to know them through life stories and experiences.

Williams says she was extremely honored to be recognized and feels very blessed to be a hospice volunteer.

Hospice of Central Iowa Volunteer Coordinator Rosy Harrington says she has come to rely greatly on Williams for her services. She says “For decades Irma has worked to educate the public on the benefits of hospice care and has supported patients and families in our area when they have needed it most. I consider it an honor to have her part of our team.”
