Pella Mayor Darrell Dobernecker says the hard work is just beginning for city leaders as they tackle issues for 2011. He says the council is currently working on getting the 2011-2012 budget worked out by calculating revenues for the year and then prioritizing which projects can be undertaken, which ones can’t. Several road projects have already been approved, including a complete reconstruction of Main Street between Washington and Elm. The Mayor says the $1.8 million project is being funded in tandem by the federal government and the City of Pella. Other road projects include repairs to University from East 8th to East 13th at a cost of about $350,000. Dobernecker says another possible project on the radar is an alternative route from Pella to Interstate 80, but says those plans are only in a preliminary stage.
