Jake Patacsil, Central College’s assistant wrestling coach didn’t let a quarterfinal loss end his drive on Wednesday night.

Although the Midlands crown was out of reach after the loss to Oklahoma’s Chase Nelson, Patacsil came back Thursday and pinned the #2 seed, Jason Welch of Northwestern in just 1:00. He then went on top pin the #5 seed (Bryan Deutsch, No. Illinois) in less than 3:00. Patacsil only wrestled one close match throughout the Midlands tourney. It was Daryl Cocozzo of Rutgers. Patacsil won the match 8-6.

In the third place match, Patacsil won after James Fleming of Clarion (#4 seed) gave up a medical forfeit.

Patacsil wrapped up the Midlands tourney finishing 3rd place. It was his fourth third place finish. Patacsil also finished 2nd once.
