The Pella Community Foundation continued its mission to help fund the activities of local non profit groups in 2010. The foundation gave a total of $50,000 to 33 different organizations in and around Pella last year, which matches its level of giving for the last three years. Foundation Board member Jim Brandl says that even in light of recent economic concerns, the Foundation is in “reasonably good shape.” Brandl says that in November a distribution committee convenes to decide how much money the applying organizations will receive. He says the group’s goal for 2011 is to continue making sound investments so they can increase the amount of money distributed. Brandl says that people who contribute to the Foundation’s endowment really are donating the gift that keeps on giving.
