The Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking forward to another busy year. Director Jill Vandevoort says even with a sluggish economy, revenue from hotel and motel taxes is up slightly, which she says will allow her group to be more aggressive in promoting events in 2011. She says the coming year will feature both new and returning events in July. The weekend of July 15th and 16th will see the return of the Harley-Davidson rally, last held in Pella in 2004. That weekend will also be the first Edward Jones Red Rock Balloon Festival. She says both events not only offer a great boost to the local economy, but are fun for residents as well.
