Thanks to the mild fall, the Lake Red Rock area has been an exceptional place for birdwatching this winter. Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz tells KNIA/KRLS News that under the Lake Red Rock Dam at least 20 bald eagles can be spotted to go along with hundreds of pelicans and a trumpeter swan. She adds that due to the warm climate, these migrating water fowl can stay put in Marion County for the entire winter. Mertz says that the Lake Red Rock area provides plenty of food and shelter for all of the birds in the area.
