Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven says he supports many of the Governor’s recent budget proposals. The Pella Republican says that while no concrete numbers have been provided, he expects the legislature to work on making state government more lean. Van Engelenhoven says one issue he’s been approached about is setting state rules that allow county treasurer’s offices to collect vehicle registration fines, eliminating a state office created solely for that purpose. He says his main goal for the session is to work to enact reforms that will save the state money.
