Five area wrestlers were able to stand on the victory platform at the State Wrestling Meet Saturday night. Knoxville’s Jay Fresh took sixth place after falling in his consolation match match to Austin Anderson of Ankeny 3-1 at 103 pounds while Skylar Spaur placed eighth at 171 pounds after being pinned by Kyle Putman of Lewis Central. Pleasantville had a very good weekend getting two of its three wrestlers on the medal stand. 140 pounder Wes Prill took fourth place after falling to Skyler Rice of Emmetsburg 3-0, and 145 pound grappler Tasker Phillips also finished in fourth place when he lost his third place match to Shay Taylor of Prairie Valley 6-4. P-C-M’s lone wrestler to make it to the final day of competition was Dalton Kingery, as he finished in seventh place after winning his seventh place match over Walker Marshall of Missouri Valley 8-7. Team champions were, Logan-Magnolia in class 1A, Davenport Assumption in 2A, and Waverly-Shell Rock in 3A.
