Spring is just around the corner, which for lots of people means outside work in the garden. Amy Carnahan, a physical therapist at Pella Regional Health Center says it’s important to think about taking good care of your back when doing work like gardening. She says most of the patients she sees suffering pain are there because of acute overuse. She says back pain could be caused by an activity performed a couple days or a couple weeks ago. Carnahan says stretching is one of the most important measures to take against minor injuries, like back injuries. She says the Health Center offers specific treatments for back injuries tailored to the activities a patient wishes to engage in, like gardening or golf.
