The major winter storm that is making its way through the Midwest has made travel very dangerous for all of Marion County and much of Iowa. The cold temperatures, heavy snow and high winds have created low visibility, large drifts and snow covered roads. The Marion County Sheriff’s office is strongly recommending no travel on area roads this morning. All area schools have closed today and several organizations have cancelled their meetings and events as well. The storm is expected to continue this morning as a blizzard warning is in effect until noon.
