With the offense and defense working in unison, the Central College women’s basketball team earned its second Iowa Conference victory of the season with a 68-64 road win at Cornell on Saturday. The Dutch shot a season-best 52.4 percent in the second half to fight off a furious rally by the Norse; while pulling down several key rebounds and making clutch free throws in the final minutes to preserve the win.
A balanced offensive attack for Central was led by Sarah Paulson’s 17 points and 7 rebounds; with Annie Sarcone and Haley Brillhart chipping in 11 and 10 points, respectively. Nicole Strasko had a game-high 8 rebounds for the Dutch and also added 9 points.
The Central women are now 5-19 overall and 2-13 in the Iowa Conference, with both wins coming against the Rams. The Dutch will close out the season on Saturday at Buena Vista.
