One local fire department is one of 10 in the state that will receive a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Senator Chuck Grassley announced Thursday that the Harvey Fire Department will receive $69,027 through the Operations and Safety Grant Program. This program provides funding for training, equipment, and health and safety modifications to station and the facilities. Senator Grassley says Iowa’s firefighters need training and equipment to do their job to the best of their ability and the safety of our communities depends on it.
