Local Master Gardeners Rank Among the Top in the State for Volunteering

The Marion County Master Gardeners have been recognized as one of the top volunteering groups in the state. Last year, the group volunteered a total of 1,200 hours, placing them in the state’s Top 10 Counties Total Hours for 2010. Volunteers helped with a variety of projects such as preparing for Tulip Time, working at the Bessie Spaur Butterfly garden and the Neal Smith Wildlife Preserve, preparing for and hosting garden tours and planting and maintaining flower beds at Camp Red Rock campgrounds. Leading the way in Marion County was Marlys Anderson who volunteered 116 hours followed by Jim Ebbers who logged 112 hours.
