The friendly Melcher Dallas and Twin Cedars athletic rivalry has moved to the classroom. Both schools are taking the Iowa Tests of Educational Development this week, and the principals of the two schools have challenged each other to compete for top academic honors, as determined by the outcome of the tests.

Melcher Dallas Principal Greg Horstmann tells KNIA KRLS News that he believes that his students and staff will work together to improve test scores as a result of the competition.

Twin Cedars Principal Dave Roby says that the winner of the academic contest will take home a traveling trophy with the inscription “Twin Cedars vs. Melcher Dallas ITED Champion.” Roby adds that no matter who takes the trophy home, if both schools improve their scores, everyone is a winner.
