The Eagles are headed to the State Tournament after trouncing Panorama 63-46 Saturday night in a game heard live on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com.

Pella Christian and Panorama came out trading buckets in the first quarter, and the Panthers took a 1 point lead into the second. The Eagles would open the second with a 12-2 run, and held Panorama scoreless for the first three minutes of the quarter. That turned out to be enough as Pella Christian did everything they had to, to sustain the lead. At halftime, the Eagles led by 14.

In the second half Pella Christian’s lead was as much as 19 points, but Panorama could never get closer than 9.

Chase Carlson had a game-high 16 points and went 4-4 from the free-throw line. Curtis Rozenboom added 15, Sam Tvedt had 14 and Kyle Nikkel dropped all of his 11 points in the second half. Dan Hessing had 5 points, including a three-pointer and Alex Branderhorst had 2 points in his first game back since injuring his shoulder.

With the win, Pella Christian advances to the Class 2A State Tournament to take on PCM in the first round on March 7th at 8:15PM. You can follow the Eagles in their quest for a State Title on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com.
