The Pella boys had all they could handle on Tuesday night, but pulled out a hard fought victory against the Eagles, 63-60 in a game that was heard on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, and held a 6 point advantage heading in to the second quarter. From there, Pella seemed to settle in, outscoring the Eagles 20-10 before the halftime break. Pella led 35-31.

In the third quarter, it went back and forth and the Eagles again had a 46-45 lead. Pella opened up the final frame with a 9-0 run that put them ahead.

The Eagles fought their way back into the game, making it a one possession contest in the final minute. With 9 seconds to go, Pella trailed by three, Alex Branderhorst had a tough look from beyond the arc that fell short. The rebound was tipped out to Kyle Nikkel who put up a three-pointer at the buzzer that was just inches off the mark.

Pella had survived are very good Eagles team on a cold night in Iowa.

With the win, Pella places themselves atop the Little Hawkeye Conference with Norwalk, at 10-2. Pella will be in Knoxville Friday.

Pella Christian fell to 9-3 in conference action, and will prepare for Norwalk Thursday night, a team they beat earlier in the season in Norwalk.
