The Pleasantville High School FFA received a significant award this week from the Monsanto Fund as part of their America’s Farmers Grow Communities program. Local farmer David Van Rheenen chose the Pleasantville FFA as his favorite local nonprofit organization when filling out a program application and was selected as the Marion County winner.

FFA Advisor Monty Collins tells KNIA/KRLS news the chapter plans to use the money to purchase growing benches for their new greenhouse and possibly toward a permanent float to be used to promote agriculture around the community and county. Collins says they sincerely appreciate the funds made possible by Van Rheenen and Monsanto.

He says the industry and community support for the Pleasantville High School agriculture and FFA program is very humbling and he hopes the program will continue to benefit all FFA chapters in Marion County for years to come.
