Progress in the state legislature is moving forward at a reasonable rate, says State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven. He says the house is currently in funnel week, when serious discussion about bills is taking place, and committees are working to ensure no bills are overlapping, which slows down the process. He says his focus is on the economic issues facing the state, even as some members press other issues. Van Engelenhoven says it’s typical for new members to press the issues on which the campaigned early, but thinks there are currently more pressing topics for the House to handle.
