With a major winter storm approaching residents are encouraged to take the necessary precautions now before travel conditions become treacherous. Marion County Engineer Roger Schletzbaum says his department is keeping an eye on the storm and making plans to do what they can to keep our roads safe and passable. Schletzbaum says he anticipates very difficult travel conditions to begin today and if we receive the amount of snow and wind that is predicted, travel could be limited on some area gravel roads until Saturday. He says the Secondary Roads Department plans to run their emergency routes today and tomorrow and will begin clearing additional gravel roads early Thursday morning.
KNIA/KRLS will continue to keep in contact with our local officials and meteorologists to bring you up to the minute weather and road condition information first, fast and accurately.
