State Representative Jim Van Englenhoven says he has some concerns about the effects of repealing Iowa’s bottle deposit law. He says he’s looking into what would happen with redemption centers around the state, and how the measure would address the problem of litter if the law is repealed. Van Engelenhoven says that part of the reason for removing the 5 cent tax is to promote curb side recycling, but added that many rural areas don’t have access to such services. The Representative says he’ll be following the issue closely in the coming weeks.
