Though the official start of the 2011-2012 basketball season won’t be for several months, that doesn’t mean that the Pella girls basketball team will be sitting idle.

Head Coach Jerod Garland says there are a variety of opportunities this offseason to help members of this year’s junior class and the other underclassmen to better prepare themselves for next season.

“I think a lot of the girls have committed to playing to playing together at a few tournaments, so that’ll be good.  Any time you can get experience – and they’ll be playing with just themselves, they won’t have the seniors in the mix – that’s a good thing,” said Garland.

“We have a couple of team camps that we’ll go to in July, and outside of that, hopefully they’ll take advantage of some opportunities to work on building skills that will help them down the road.”

Pella finished this past season with a 19-4 overall record and reached the Regional Finals.
