The Governor was also questioned by some of the nearly 200 6th graders from Jefferson Intermediate School in Pella. Jefferson Principal Brian Miller says a substitute social studies teacher initiated the visit by the students, after being impressed by their knowledge of current events. Miller says it’s a great opportunity for the kids to see state officials on a personal basis, and was happy the Governor took time to answer their questions.
Several students spoke with KNIA/KRLS and said it was fun to meet the Governor and Lt. Governor Branstad says the students asked good questions, and he enjoyed the opportunity to speak with them.
