Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day and many people will be out celebrating today. While doing so area law enforcement reminds residents to do so carefully and responsibly.

The Knoxville and Pella Police Departments are participating in a special traffic enforcement program wave beginning Thursday. There will be extra officers patrolling area roadways and looking for drivers who are not obeying the traffic laws.

Knoxville Police Lieutenant Darrell Brown says there are more people out and about on the roads during holidays such at St. Patrick’s Day, the 4th of July Christmas and New Year’s so area law enforcement pays special attention to the roads during these times.

If you see someone driving who appears to be impaired you’re encouraged to call local law enforcement or 911.
