The Central College men’s golf team opened the spring season in strong form with a runner-up finish at the Dutch Desert Shootout yesterday.  Central hosted the one-day tournament at the Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa, Arizona.  

Mesa Community College, the second-ranked junior college in the country, narrowly edged out Central in the team standings, shooting a 299, while Central shot an even 300.  The Dutch had three golfers finish in the top ten individually, led by Brent Messmore’s third-place finish with a score of 72.  

The Central College men’s golf team returns to action on March 27th with a two-day tournament in Eureka, Missouri for the Maryville Invitational.
