Two Iowa high schools will have a State Championship trophy after tonight. The Class 1A Girls Basketball Championship is set to get underway at 6PM tonight with the top-two ranked teams in the state. Martensdale-St. Marys beat West Hancock by 13 to advance to the title game while Ar-We-Va edged out Marquette Catholic, 52-42.

In the final release of the Iowa Girls High School Basketball Rankings, Martensdale-St. Marys (25-2) was ranked #1 with Ar-We-Va (24-2) holding down the #2 spot.

Mackenzie Morrison leads the way for M-ST with 16.2 ppg. Ar-We-Va’s Melissa Greve enters the contest averaging 15.3 ppg. Dani Kock may be Ar-We-Va’s best player averaging 13.8 ppg while shooting 60% from the field. She also grabs 9.1 rebounds-per-game and leads the team in blocks.

The Class 2A Title is also on the line in the nightcap at Wells Fargo Arena. Undefeated OA-BCIG (25-0) takes to the floor against Estherville-LC (23-4). The Midgets shocked Roland-Story with a 36-24 final score while OA-BCIG beat Monticello by 23 after a narrow first round win.

OA-BCIG was ranked #1 in Class 2A in the final rankings. Estherville-LC was unranked but made some noise in the postseason beating Kuemper Catholic, who was ranked #3 in the final rankings. The Midgets then downed Pella Christian and Roland-Story, #2 in Class 2A.
