A Lacona man will serve 10 years in prison after he pled guilty to drug charges Friday. According to the Marion County Attorney’s office Dustin Steven Conrad received the sentence after pleading guilty to a conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine charge.

Conrad was arrested on December 29th after law enforcement officers with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, South Central Iowa Drug Task Force and the Iowa Division of Narcotics conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle west of Melcher on Highway G-76 for a speed infraction.

During a search of a vehicle the officer found several subjects in the vehicle to be in possession of open containers of alcohol and located and seized items used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine.

Others arrested during the incident are include Rusty Lee Conrad of Lacona, Sara Dawn Vande Kraats of Pella, Gegory Schuyler Griffith of Bussey and Kendra Jo Birkenholtz of Monroe.
