With the passage of the 2011-2012 budget, the city of Pella can now move forward with many projects planned for the year. City Administrator Mike Nardini says one word can be used to describe this year’s budget: infrastructure. The budget includes many such projects, most notably street repair on North Main Street, University and an asphalt overlay project for South Main and Oskaloosa streets. The budget also includes funding for an additional police officer. Nardini says department heads did a good job of keeping their own budgets at 2010 levels, and by cutting some discretionary spending items, were able to save approximately $250,000 for the year.
