The conclusion of the 2010-2011 season brought with it the end of an era for the Pella girls basketball team, as a number of multi-year starters played in their green and white basketball uniforms for the final time.  The Lady Dutch will graduate six seniors from this year’s team, including all five of the starters.

While the Pella girls will undoubtedly have an incredible gap in experience to fill by next season, Head Coach Jerod Garland says the cupboard won’t be entirely bare next November.

“All the juniors played significant quarters, so that’s really nice to have that experience.  Katie [Sunderman], Bailey [Vande Weerd] and Regan [Cooper] – those three girls played quite a bit,” said Garland.

“Then you have Maddy, Kim, Madeline and Sierra, and they got in some [quality] time too.  We have a good corps coming back, and I think it’s going to be key for them to use this offseason to improve.”

Those graduating for the Lady Dutch include captains Hali Steenhoek and Makenzie Vander Molen, along with Mackenzie Anthony, Lindsay Bentzinger, Kelsey Fynaardt and Whitney Williams.

The Pella girls basketball team finished this past season in second place in the Little Hawkeye Conference and tallied a 19-4 overall record.
