The West Area Relief Sewer Project continues in Knoxville this week and as one intersection reopens another will close. Madison Street at Dayton Street, which closed last week, opened back up yesterday and South Street at Jefferson Street will be closed as of today for the continuation of the project. The closing is expected to take several weeks while the contractor replaces sanitary sewer, storm sewer and paving at the location which was approved by the Knoxville City Council at their meeting Monday at a cost of $82,120.

City Manager Dick Schrad says the money will come from the GO bond fund and the purpose of the additional paving and sewer system is to connect the two repaired sections into one large adequate area.
