A large proportion of Marion County voters cast a ballot in favor of renewing the 1% Local Option Sales and Services Tax during yesterday’s special election. A total of 1,645 votes were cast, equal to 6.93% of all registered voters in the county.

In Knoxville, of the 356 total votes, 305 residents voted yes and in Pella, 447 of 526 voters checked yes.

In addition, Melcher-Dallas voters elected Terry A. Fisher to their City Council with 137 votes out of 157.

The results are unofficial until caucused by the Marion County Board of Supervisors.
