March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness month and Marion County Public Health is offering free mail-in screenings. Registered nurse Judi Van Hulzen says once people hit age 50 it is recommended that they do regular colorectal cancer screenings as it is the only way to detect the second leading cause of death in the U.S. Testing can be done through a colonoscopy or through a stool sample test.

Those who would like to receive a free screening kit can call Marion County Public Health at 828-2238.
