Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat is considering a variety of solutions as he looks to vacancy in his department. Chief Deputy Mel Vander Wiel will retire next month after several decades of service in law enforcement with the Pella Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Goemaat says he is not yet sure who will take over in the Chief Deputy position but is exploring his different options. Vander Weil’s official last day is April 8th.
