The Red Rock Lake Association and Central College are joining forces this year to provide the public with an opportunity to get an up close look at our national bird.
Ron Huelse, a Red Rock Lake Association member and wildlife photographer tells KNIA/KRLS news they are currently seeking funds to put up a 24 hour webcam above a large bald eagle nest. Huelse says the eagle cam will provide endless educational opportunities for area students and the public as they’re able to watch all stages of the birds life.
The project is modeled after another webcam set up near a nest in Decorah which Hulse says was watched by more than 300,000 people in 123 different countries last year.
More information on the project will be available at Bald Eagle Days at Central College on Saturday, beginning at 11am in the Douwstra Auditorium.
