Later this month Japanese music ensemble Agatsuma is scheduled make their way to Knoxville as our fourth and final guests as part of the Arts Midwest program. The group is scheduled to arrive in the United States on March 19th and in Marion County on March 20th. Megan McKay Ziller of the Red Rock Arts Alliance, the organization responsible for coordinating the Arts Midwest events, says some of the ensemble members live in north Japan and while she has received word that they are all safe they are currently in shock in the aftermath of this week’s earthquake and tsunami. McKay Ziller says the group is still evaluating the situation and how the disaster will impact their day-to-day lives and we should know soon whether or not their scheduled trip to the area will be possible.

KNIA/KRLS news will bring you updates on Agatsuma’s visit as they become available.
