The Pella Community School Board will meet in regular session this afternoon. Items on the agenda include discussion of 2011-2012 budget information such as the special education budget. Last year there were federal funds to keep the deficit at about $210,000. Without those federal funds, the deficit will rise, and the Board will be asked to levy for a deficit of $490,000.

There will also be consideration of a budget guarantee resolution dealing with the rate of allowable growth. The 2011-2012 budget is based on zero-percent allowable growth, which is what has been proposed by Governor Branstad.

The Board will entertain roofing bids from Koopman roofing and Insulation for district projects, receive an update of the Department of Education site visit, discuss swimming agreements with Newton and Ottumwa, consider the 2011-2012 choir trip to New York and consideration of an agreement with a group to provide driver’s eduction.

The meeting takes place at 4:30 at the Pella Community Schools Administration building.
