The Marion County Sheriff’s and Attorney’s offices are teaming up to educate students on internet safety. Deputy Matt Boender and Assistant County Attorney Melissa Clarke, both affiliate members of the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, will conduct a presentation on the topic with 7th through 12th graders at Twin Cedars School on Friday. The discussion will cover topics such as general internet safety, social networking safety and cyber-bullying. County Attorney Ed Bull says far too often we are learning about new ways that sexual predators are attempting to target our children as well as children using social networking to intimate their peers. He says they hope these types of outreaches will prevent our children from being victims of these crimes.
