The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session yesterday. Following no comments during a public hearing the board approved the 2011-2012 county budget and approved a resolution designating the placement of property tax relief funds in the County from the local option sales and services tax revenues.

The board also discussed the establishment of a Marion County Pioneer Cemetery Commission and advised founder Val Van Kooten to speak with County Attorney Ed Bull about what other counties are doing and how Marion County should proceed with establishment. $5,000 from the non-departmental fund of the next fiscal year’s budget was designated for the commission.

The board also discussed a fourth change order for the North Annex building remodel project which was for the replacement of eight aluminum hinges on the front entrance door at a cost of $761. Craig Agan expressed concern about the look of the doors as they are not in the best shape and asked to get a quote for how much it would cost to replace the door with a new one similar to the door on the south entrance of the Courthouse. Kim Dorn, Director of Marion County Public Health will speak with the contractor to get a quote and bring that information to the board at a future meeting.
