With tens of thousands of visitors expected for next week’s Tulip Time festival, local law enforcement will be on alert and available. In addition to the Pella Police Department, Chief Micheal Marcinkowski says the event demands the services of the Iowa State Patrol to help with traffic along highway 163. Marion County Sherriff Ron Goemaat says his department will also be called upon in order to keep the possibility of vandalism and theft to a minimum. He says that’s a slight concern, as there are many new vendors expected at this year’s festival. Reserve officers will also be on duty overnight during the three day event.
