The wait for win number 900 is over, as Central College softball coach George Wares and the Dutch swept Cornell College Wednesday afternoon to get reach a major milestone for the long-time coach.  Central routed the Rams 10-2 in five innings for the reach the 900th win for Wares, then relied upon strong defense and gutsy base-running for a 4-3 win in game two.  
Coach Wares is only the second NCAA Division III coach to ever reach 900 career victories, as he pushed his overall mark to 901 wins, 299 losses, and 3 ties in his 27 seasons as a coach.  He is only six wins away from becoming the winningest coach in D-III history.  
Pitcher Kiley Lythberg improved her record this season to 16-4 by picking up both wins against Cornell, while Brie Haycraft picked up her fourth save of the season by closing things out in the pitching circle in game two.  
With the victories, the Central softball team stays in a tie with Luther College for the top spot in the Iowa Conference with a 12-2 record.  The Dutch are 31-5 overall and can clinch at least a share of the league title with wins over the University of Dubuque on Saturday.
