It has been a rainy couple of weeks and believe it or not, several Marion County residents are still recovering from flooding last summer and fall.
Fortunately there is still help available as Iowans Helping Iowans still has funds available to help those in need. Residents who received damage from last year’s floods can get up to $2,500 in reimbursement through the program if they qualify and apply by the end of the fiscal year on June 30th.
Nancy Hulgen of Red Rock Community Action says the funds can be used for a variety of purposes such as basement clean-up, replacement of lost personal items and furnace repair or replacement. She says as of last week there is roughly $23,000 of funds still available.
To qualify residents must live in the have received the damage between June 1st and August 15th of last year, have applied for FEMA assistance and have an annual income equal to or less than 300% of the Federal poverty level for a household of that size.
Those with questions or who would like to apply for the funds are asked to contact Nancy Hulgan at Red Rock Community Action at 842-6571.
